Lesbian Friends Or Girlfriends?
So I’m 16, gay, from Ohio and I’ve dated one girl and talked to a few from MySpace or random teen sites but I want to find girls around my area who I didn’t meet online because I find it embarrassing. I’m self conscious when I go out this definitely doesn’t help but I wouldn’t know where to go to find any girls my age. It’s not like I’m 18 and can go to a gay bar… So any advice?

You don’t have any lesbian girls in your school?
If you want to start meeting people now, you’re going to have to get over the embarrassment. The Internet is probably the best place to meet and talk to other lesbians your age. Obviously, if you end up deciding to meet with someone, proceed with caution, meet in a public area during the daytime, etc. It’s much harder for us to play the whole dating game because even if we spot a girl we like, there’s a very good chance she’s straight. The Internet eliminates that guesswork and gives you a much larger pool to pick from beyond your high school (which, if you are going to a high school that was the size of the one I went to, you might have 5 girls to choose from). Another option is to find a local LGBT organization and start attending their meetings. If all else fails, you’re only a few years away from college; the gay dating scene is 100x better.
Good Luck
