TLQ Let’s Mingle!

mingle_128Hello all!!! I’ve recently received quite a few emails asking for other ways for readers of The Lesbian Question to connect. In answer to those inquires I have added a social networking plugin to TLQ called Mingle.

I just want to be clear that the main function of TLQ will remain the blog that is written by all of you. I would like to urge you not to post questions on your Mingle profile because they are private and only your friends will be able to see them (hence, you won’t get many comments).

If you are a registered user on TLQ you are already signed up to Mingle. All you need to do is go to the Profile page and set up your personalized Mingle profile. Then you can start to use Mingles features:

  • User Profile Pages
  • Ability to Upload custom avatars (falls back on Gravatar)
  • User Friending
  • User Profile Posting (for friends)
  • User Profile Post Commenting (for friends)
  • Friend Activity Pages
  • Full Member Directory
  • Email Notifications
  • User Email Notification Opt-Outs

The Mingle toolbar is just beneath the TLQ toolbar on the sidebar of the site. Once logged into TLQ it automatically logs you in to Mingle, but if you want to have a post published on TLQ you will always have to pass by the ‘Admin part‘. It may be a bit confusing at first, but remember this: Mingle = Private & TLQ Blog = Public. (If you aren’t a registered TLQ user find out how to do so here)

The Mingle toolbar gives you easy access to your activity feed, friends, and email.  You do have to request another user as a friend in order to directly email them. Your mingle profile page can be accessed from the blog header. We hope that the addition of Mingle and the TLQ forum will be the answer for better communication for those that visit the site and want to take the friendships they have made via TLQ to a higher level of communication.

We are always open to suggestions so please let us know if there are any glitches or issues that you find while using Mingle. We will continue to do all we can to continue to better this site and be there for you while allowing  all of you to be there for each other.
